Across the world right now, people are looking for ways to learn more about a product, run price-comparisons, ask their friends and associations for recommendations, and then possibly buy an item.
And more than ever before, consumers are performing those activities on a mobile device.
Reuters published an article regarding some of the early reports on this year’s Black Friday sales. Within their recap, there were a number of items related to the effect that mobile had. Here are a few highlights:
- “IBM was expecting growth of about 15 percent. Higher-than-expected online buying was partly driven by increased use of mobile devices.”
- “EBay said U.S. shoppers bought almost two and a half times as many items via mobile devices this past Black Friday compared to 2010.”
- “PayPal, eBay’s online payments business, saw a six-fold increase in global mobile transaction volume on Black Friday, versus the same day last year.”

I’m looking forward to seeing similar stories of growth in the days and weeks to come!
